Happy Thanksgiving week to those who celebrate!
A few updates on Frank as we approach the end of the year.
As I mentioned in “No New (Social Media) Friends,” I’ve been enjoying conversations in person with friends and on the notes section of Substack more than I have any variation of Threads or Bluesky. The latter feels a lot like old Twitter in good and bad ways. And listen, I love being a gay man, but I’m not sure how much my brain can endure a constant barrage of nudes and gym progress pics as gays try to amass the followings they had previously on Twitter quickly.
So join our weekly salons, in the chat section of the Substack app or desktop version, where each Monday I ask what readers are consuming. This week, I discussed watching the AIDS melodrama Longtime Companion.
I hope to choose a more convenient schedule to publish new pop culture essays. I’ll always throw out a smaller piece for paid subscribers if the mood strikes me, but I’d love to pick a day for a weekly (or bi-weekly, which would constitute a longer, more edited piece) essay.
I’m also cognizant of how much your inbox may be flooded daily with other newsletters and other marketing e-mails this holiday season. Especially given I am now recapping at least four Real Housewives shows currently!1 I was sharing previews for all subscribers, but I will now shift to only sending them to paid subscribers so that free subscribers don’t have them clogging their inboxes each week! You’ll be able to find them on Frank’s homepage should you choose.
We’re finalizing book tour dates! As of now, the cities are shaping up to be New York, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Portland, Boston, and D.C. I’ll let subscribers know first when the dates are finalized and tickets are on sale!
Aside from regular essays, what other content would you like in Frank the next year? Will try to implement it, but bear in mind I am still in the midst of — recording and producing Keep It weekly, working on a novel, and finishing a screenplay! It’ll be a busy few months.
Also regarding the novel — I’ll try to periodically add updates in my process of writing it (my first novel). I also want to return to sharing short fiction from time to time.
If you have any questions or comments, please share them below or reply to this e-mail directly!
There will be a Real Housewives of Potomac recap today. I leave for Thanksgiving vacation tomorrow evening, so recaps of Beverly Hills, New York, and Salt Lake City may be delayed!
My advance copy of Pure Innocent Fun just came in the mail. Can't wait to dig in!
Just stopping to say that I love that you're building up your Substack! Think my cyber Monday treat will be upgrading my Frank Sub to paid.
