The All-New Real Housewives of New York City
Season 14, Episode 4: “The Most Brynnteresting Girl in the Room”
This was another fun episode! I’m seeing a lot of complaints that the show isn’t “popping” yet, but we’re literally only four episodes in? I want to get to know the women and who they are before drama starts popping off — it’s already simmering, we’ll get to that!! — and I’m really starting to find these women fascinating.
7 - Sai de Silva
(Last week: 5)
Sai takes a tumble this week, because she was pretty high and mighty about Jessel being rude to Erin but then she’s rude as hell when she’s leaving Erin’s Hamptons home and remarks “well, you didn’t feed us!” It wasn’t quite funny enough to be shade and her confessionals also weren’t giving much this week, so unfortunately she’s in last place. I also need her to stop critiquing Jenna’s clothing. I know you’re an Instagram baddie, but For You Page fashion is not fashion sense. It just means you know how to sell athleisure to scrolling moms, Shein de Silva.
I loved Sai’s house, but I also have an intense dislike of people who throw parties and then expect people to take their shoes off (that’s how Carrie Bradshaw’s Manolos got stolen!!). If you can have a catered party at your home then you can pay for the floors to be cleaned the next morning!
6 - Erin Lichy
(Last week: 4)
She finally made her damn shakshuka!!! Our national nightmare is over. Erin doesn’t have much to be a pill about this week so she’s dropped down on the rankings. Admonishing Sai for not being able to wear her boots in her house was a start but she should’ve just kept them on!
5 - Ubah Hassan
(Last week: 3)
Ubah continues to be fabulous and I’m kind of obsessed with Ubah Hot, her hot sauce. Come on, Skinnygirl vibes! She whipped that out really quick to put on Erin’s shakshuka which clearly means it it wasn’t given any… flavor. Ubah also opened up about losing her mother, which added some dimensions to her. She’s got the potential to be a great, authentic housewife.
4- Erin’s Shakshuka
(Last week: n/a)
Even though her shakshuka seemed flavorless, never mind that Jenna constantly disrespects the shakshuka by mispronouncing it, you can’t deny that the girls have been talking about her!!!
3 - Jessel Taank
(Last week: 6)
Last week I thought Jessel was doing the most. But now I realize it might be her and and Erin who’s actually giving Ramona vibes. I don’t know if it’s her British attitude, but that was classic RHONY moment Jessel asking Erin about her grandmother’s memorial and then being like, “well, hoped it was fun!!!” She’s got a screw loose that makes her seem like a total bitch and we need an oblivious bitch on this show if we’re gonna stir up some drama. Then there’s when she’s actually being a bitch, like when she referred to Erin and the girls as “cackling hags.” Which, speaking of…
2 - Jenna Lyons
(Last week: 2)
Jenna Lyons… bone collector??? Countess and Frenemies on TikTok, one of my favorite Bravo accounts to follow on all socials, posits it’s because Jenna is a Gemini, who are the “grenade throwers” of Bravo. They have a lot of alliances amongst the cast and then they carry information back and forth, leave a grenade to explode, and keep their hands clean. Telling Erin about the “cackling hags” comment, then telling production she doesn’t know why she did it was iconic. I’m glad she’s finally get involved in the mess!
1 - Brynn Whitfield
(Last week: 1)
Brynn is turning into a breakout star. She’s been mostly ridiculous and over the top, but this week we got to hear about her backstory as growing up biracial and without her Black dad in her life, her only connection to Blackness was the Black salon that her white grandmother took her to. Hearing her break down about how neglectful both of her parents were (also, her mom was a teen and her dad was “older” which was troubling to hear) added some authenticity and real investment in her as a person. I didn’t know that I expected Brynn to be so open on the series, but I’m glad she is!
100% agree. Brynn is the breakout star. So far Brynn, Ubah and Jenna are the most interesting to me. Brynn is over the top in the most charming way. You should get her as a guest on Keep It!
Brynn is giving me the biracial realness that Ash and Katie on Potomac would never give on camera. Well Katie tried when she wasn’t threatening to pull the SUV over or her wig was slipping.
