I like Jennifer Aniston. I like Friends! I cannot abide The Morning Show but I do hear these Murder Mystery movies are kinda fun? I haven’t liked an Adam Sandler film since You Don’t Mess with the Zohan (a classic, but it has a wonderful performance by Mariah Carey doing one of my faves of hers, “I’ll Be Loving U Long Time”), but I would watch it. Actually wait, I liked Uncut Gems. Anyway.
She recently gave an interview about Friends and said: “There’s a whole generation of people, kids, who are now going back to episodes of ‘Friends’ and find them offensive. There were things that were never intentional and others… well, we should have thought it through — but I don’t think there was a sensitivity like there is now. Everybody needs funny! The world needs humor! We can’t take ourselves too seriously. Especially in the United States. Everyone is far too divided.”
Ma’am… no one is offended by Friends. Now, was the show so unbelievably white that even the delivery people in NYC were all white? Sure. Was that Aisha Tyler arc ill-advised? Yes. But Friends is one of the most popular shows on streaming and people love it. Three people making TikToks pointing out offensive jokes on a show you made centuries ago and made over a billion dollars on should never have even reached your radar. Fire whoever sent it your way. Take your money and sip your Smart Water and stop inventing problems where there are none. And make a sequel to We’re the Millers. That was funny!
Also funny? Revisiting actual Smart Water commercials. “Like A G6?” Practically orgasming from sipping hydration? A parrot? I love American culture.
Are we excited for the new season of Real Housewives of Atlanta? I think the season looks good. There’s actual drama! And Sheree cracked me up with “We don’t know what we’re going to get when we go to Old Lady Gang, biscuits or bullets.” She’s a star!!
I’m also very much excited to see bougie Black people being a mess on TV on Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard. While I do secretly aspire to live this type of Black upper middle class life, I’m gay so I will never be part of this particular world. Also, this season of Summer House is so unbearable I’ve stopped watching.
