I’m stoked to finally share the cover for my first essay collection, Pure Innocent Fun!
It’s a blend of memoir and cultural criticism that explores my teenage years in Milwaukee in the 2000s where I: wrote Buffy the Vampire Slayer fanfic, learned about sex from my mom’s Lil’ Kim CDs, took infomercial diet pills, realized I was gay from a Calvin Klein ad and Tom Cruise’s Vanity Fair cover, perused soap opera forums to discuss Days of Our Lives and Passions, never got my driver’s license in high school, discovered cruising in the bathrooms at Borders, experienced the most heartbreaking election of my youth in 2004 (not George W. Bush’s re-election, but Jennifer Hudson losing American Idol), and much more.
It’s about how pop culture shapes us, both for the better and for the worse. It’s on sale February 4, but you can pre-order it now wherever you get your books!
I’ve only ever pre-ordered two books — Britney’s memoir and this one.
Love it!! Excited for this; love everything you write.
